Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw

I recently updated my network that required the router/modem be replaced.  Before the update my HP printer connected to the original modem's wireless network fine.  The new Hitron CODA-4582U modem is configured the same as the original modem with all devices connect seamlessly, except the HP printer.  This printer cannot connect wireless to the new modem network even though the SSID and password hasn't changed.

I understand the printer can connect to a 2.4G network only so I disabled Band Steering and renamed the SSID for the 5G network while retaining the original SSID name for the 2.4G.  All attempts to connect the printer to the SSID configured for the 2.4G band failed.  Running a Test Report from the printer after a failed connection attempt, I'm getting the following message:

"The WPA authentication method on your HP has been changed from the default setting.  This may cause problems when connecting to your wireless network, if your wireless router is not using the same WPA authentication method."

Note, there is a "MAC address filtering may be enabled on the wireless router" message as well.  I verified MAC address filtering is NOT enabled on the router.

On logging into the modem I see security configuration is as follows:

Security Mode:   WPA-Personal

Authentication Type:     WPA2-PSK

Encryption:     TKIP/AES

Since I also have an Actiontec WCB3000N extender cabled back to the new Hitron modem via Ethernet, for test purposes I attempted to connect the printer to to the extenders wireless 2.4G band with printer connection was successful.  Authentication Type of this Actiontec extender's wireless is configured the same as the modem's wireless as follows:

Communication Mode:   Infrastructure

Authentication Type:     WPA2-PSK

Encryption: (Not shown)

With the printer and my Windows 10 computer connected to the Actiontec extender, I logged into the printer over wireless to view the connection to the extender and verified matching matching security settings on both the modem and extender as follows:

Status: Connected
Wireless: On
Network Name (SSID): Actiontec-4224-2.4G
Communication Mode: Infrastructure
Authentication Type: wpa2-psk
Encryption: tkip+aes
Hardware Address: 84:4b:f5:28:4d:aa
Access Point Hardware Address: a0:a3:e2:e9:1c:2b
Channel: 6
Signal Strength: Excellent

I then again attempted connecting the printer to the new Hitron modem via wireless and tested various security settings, without success.

To summarize the printer cannot connect to the wireless network on my modem while successfully connecting to the wireless network of my extender with security settings configured the same on all devices.

I've exhausted all ideas troubleshooting this printer wireless connection so any suggestions would be helpful?   Thank you.

Possibly the printer is associating the SSID with the previous router and not updating any connection information it might have stored.  I am guessing it thinks the old router is still connected.

Try a reset of the printer as shown in this video

You may try a different name for the 2.4 band

BeemerBiker thank you for your recommendations.   I did both as suggested.

I first logged into the modem, changed the SSID to a different name and attempted to log the printer onto the network with the new SSID and no joy.

I then did a full printer reset, reconfigured as per the prompts and attempted to log onto the main network, without success.  I then selected the SSID assigned to the Actiontec extender and as before, no problem connecting.

I'm still puzzled.  Has there been subtle revisions to authentication protocols to create an incompatibility even though they appear to be compatible based on configuration?

Any other suggestions I can try?

When you were in the modem, Be sure to find the channel that has the least amount of noiseBestChannel.pngDid you restart the modem after making changes?

You will have to debug the problem.  If you bring up the WiFi device list you should be able to locate your printer either with its name or the MAC address.  You  can then bring up client statistics and look for weak signal strength and errors
