HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I transferred my HP Laser Jet 1525 from my MAC to connecting to my husband's Windows 10 PC. The printer shows "Ready" but on the computer it shows "Offline." Tried using the HP Smart App but it just kept giving message printer offline.  Documents were found in the print queue, yet it still said offline. Tried uninstalling , turning off both computer and printer and then turning both back on, finally re-adding printer.  Looked for updated drivers, but got message that there were none available. Help!

Hi @chlippa

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw is stuck in an "offline" state despite showing "Ready" on the printer itself. This issue is common when switching between operating systems, and it often comes down to network settings or driver conflicts. Here are some steps to troubleshoot:

1. Check Printer and Network Connection

  • Ensure the printer and PC are on the same network.
  • If using Wi-Fi, try switching to a wired Ethernet connection for stability.

2. Disable "Use Printer Offline" Mode

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your printer and select See what's printing.
  • Click Printer in the top menu and uncheck "Use Printer Offline".

3. Restart the Print Spooler Service

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.
  • Try printing again.

4. Assign a Manual IP Address

  • If your printer is connected via Wi-Fi, setting a static IP address can help.
  • You can find steps on HP’s support page.

5. Try HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

  • HP provides a tool to automatically resolve offline printer issues. You can download it here.

Let me know if any of these steps work!

I posted in HP Community on 5-29-25 that my HP LaserJet 1525nw connected to Windows 10, 64 bit says "Ready" but "Offline" on computer after transferring printer from my MAC to my husband's PC. Hawks_Eye replied from HP Support with some troubleshooting steps which initially seemed to help. We managed to get a test page printed but after that one single page we kept getting the message "Printer in an Error State."

I appreciate all your troubleshooting efforts.

It sounds like your HP LaserJet CP1525nw is stuck in an error state after initially printing successfully. Since you've already tried some troubleshooting steps, here are a few additional things to check:

Steps to Fix "Printer in an Error State"

Restart the Printer & Computer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your computer to ensure there are no pending software issues.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Visit HP’s support page and check for any available firmware updates for your printer.
  • Install the latest firmware and restart the printer.

Reset the Printer

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to SetupPrinter MaintenanceRestore Defaults.
  • Reconfigure the printer after the reset.

Check HP Support Forums for Similar Issues

Since your printer worked briefly before entering an error state, resetting the printer settings and checking for firmware updates might help. Let me know how it goes—you're handling this issue with great patience! 🚀
