Hi @Majige,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop sees that your new printer is offline and you're unable to print wirelessly, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
1. Verify Printer and Network Connection
Ensure Printer is On:
- Make sure the printer is powered on and in a ready state.
Check Printer Connectivity:
- Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your laptop. You can usually check this on the printer’s control panel or through its settings menu.
Print Network Configuration Page:
- Print a network configuration page from the printer’s menu to verify its connection to the network and IP address.
2. Restart Devices
Restart Printer:
- Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
Restart Laptop:
- Restart your HP laptop to refresh the network connections.
Restart Router:
- Power cycle your Wi-Fi router by unplugging it, waiting for about 30 seconds, and plugging it back in.
3. Check Printer Status on Laptop
Open Devices and Printers:
- On Windows, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers. Find your printer in the list.
Set Printer Online:
- Right-click on the printer icon and select See what’s printing. In the print queue window, go to Printer and ensure Use Printer Offline is unchecked. If it’s checked, uncheck it to set the printer back online.
4. Reinstall or Update Printer Drivers
Remove and Re-add Printer:
- In Devices and Printers, right-click on the printer and select Remove device.
- Go to Add a printer to reinstall the printer. Follow the prompts to detect and set up the printer.:
- Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.
5. Check Printer Settings
Check Printer Settings on Laptop:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners on Windows. Select your printer and click Manage. Ensure the correct printer is set as the default printer and that it's connected to the network.
Configure Printer’s IP Address:
- Ensure the printer’s IP address is correctly configured in the printer’s settings and matches what’s set on your laptop.
6. Run Printer Troubleshooter
- Windows Printer Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Printer and then click Run the troubleshooter. Follow the on-screen instructions to detect and fix issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
