HP Photosmart Plus e-All-in-One Printer - B210a

I have a Linux operating system connected by wi-fi to my HP ink jet all in one printer. It sees the docoument and shows that it is processing but does not print, even when I ask for a test print.

Hi @Marc431,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Photosmart Plus e-All-in-One Printer - B210a not printing on Linux,

here are some steps to help troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Status

  • Ensure the printer is online: Make sure the printer is connected to Wi-Fi, powered on, and ready to print.
  • Ping the printer: Open a terminal and type ping <printer IP address>. This will verify if your system can communicate with the printer.

2. Install HP Linux Imaging and Printing (HPLIP)

  • HPLIP is the official HP driver package for Linux. Some Linux distributions come with HPLIP pre-installed, but an outdated version may cause issues.
  • You can check if HPLIP is installed and running by entering the following command in your terminal: dpkg -l | grep hplip
  • If HPLIP is not installed or outdated, download and install the latest version from HP's website here.

To install it manually, you can run: sudo apt-get install hplip

3. Check Printer Queue

  • Sometimes print jobs get stuck in the queue. To check for stalled jobs, open a terminal and run: lpstat -p
  • If jobs are stuck, you can clear the queue using: cancel -a

4. Test with HP Device Manager (hp-toolbox)

  • The HP Device Manager (part of HPLIP) can help diagnose and test the printer. Run the following command to open it: hp-toolbox
  • This will allow you to see if the printer is properly detected and run a test print.

5. Check Printer Driver

Refer to this document: HP Photosmart Plus e-All-in-One Printer - B210a User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
