Hi @Lizzy83,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the "Encryption credentials have expired" error is causing a problem with your HP ENVY Inspire 7900e series printer. This issue typically arises when there's a problem with the connection to the printer's wireless network, which can be due to expired security settings. Here's how you can resolve it:
1. Reset the Printer's Wireless Settings
- On the printer's control panel, go to the Settings or Wi-Fi menu.
- Select Network Settings and choose to Restore Network Defaults.
- This will clear any saved credentials and settings that might be causing the issue.
2. Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi
- After resetting the network settings, reconnect your printer to the Wi-Fi network by following the setup process.
- On the printer's screen, navigate to the Wi-Fi setup wizard (usually under Network settings).
- Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
3. Update HP Smart App
- Ensure that your HP Smart app is updated to the latest version on your macOS.
- If the app is outdated, it could be causing compatibility issues with the printer.
4. Update the Printer Firmware
- Connect your printer to the computer or network and check for any available firmware updates:
- Open the HP Smart app and check for any firmware updates for your printer.
- Alternatively, you can visit the HP support website to manually check for and download the latest firmware for your printer model.
5. Reconfigure Instant Ink (If Applicable)
- If you're using HP Instant Ink with your printer, try logging out and logging back into your Instant Ink account through the HP Smart app.
6. Reboot the Printer and Mac
- After performing the above steps, restart both the printer and your Mac to ensure the new settings take effect.
7. Remove and Reinstall the Printer
- If the issue persists, remove the printer from your macOS system and add it again:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, then select your printer and click the minus (-) sign to remove it.
- Click the plus (+) sign to add the printer back.
Let me know how it goes.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
