Error message "PDE.plugin will damage your computer.  Report malware to Apple to protect other users"   Can't print.  Tried downloading drivers and it won't let me run it.  Says no extension to open it.  Ran malware and nothing is detected.  Called Apple and they had me try another user?  That didn't work.  Help!  I need my printer!!!!

I contacted Apple and it was a simple fix - delete the printer and then re-install - it worked for me.  I'm now able to print again.  Something to do with a driver update that's not compatible with the newer Apple update.  Don't really understand all of it but in my case this worked.  Good luck to anyone else out there with the same problem.  Try contacting the company that made your computer.  Hopefully it's as simple as mine was!

Apple Insider is reporting this.

Quote:

The problem would appear to be related to Apple's XProtect. This is part of Gatekeeper, Apple's security system that exists to identify and disable malware on Macs.

Most reported incidents are from consumers, but AppleInsider can now confirm that the issue is affecting printing in enterprise as well. It appears to still be possible to successfully AirPrint from Mac to an affected HP printer, however.

Most users affected report that they have not recently updated either their HP printer drivers, or the Amazon Music app. The presumption is that it's therefore to do with a behind-the-scenes macOS malware definitions update, but has not been confirmed.

I found that the following steps fixed my issue:

1. Deleting my printer;

2. Downloading the HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for OS X;

3. Adding my printer back.

Good luck!

I have the same issue, starting Oct 25 as well.  Followed by "inkjet4.driver" will damage your computer.

I am trying to re-install the printer software, with no success.

Well, at least I know I am not alone. Confused and frustrated, but not alone.

I have the same issue. I have re-installed the printer and still no luck. Yes, I tried to print on October 25, 2020. I don't print a lot and my last print (successful printing) was probably 2-3 weeks prior to October 25.
