Hi @36dog,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try the following steps:
Check for Printer’s Wi-Fi Direct Password
- If you are connecting via Wi-Fi Direct, the password is usually printed on a label on the printer itself or on a Network Configuration Page.
- To print a Network Configuration Page:
- On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Network Setup > Print Network Configuration Page.
- Look for Wi-Fi Direct Name (SSID) and Wi-Fi Direct Password.
Check HP Smart App Credentials
- If you're using the HP Smart App, it may require an HP account password. Try signing in at HP Smart and checking if it asks for a password there.
Reset the Printer’s Password
- If you previously set up an administrator password and forgot it, you may need to reset the printer:
- On the printer, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults > Restore Network Settings.
- This resets network settings, allowing you to set a new password.
Check Your Router’s Settings
- If connecting via Wi-Fi, check your router settings for any security options that might be blocking the connection.
- Log into your router’s settings (usually 192.168.1.1 in a browser) and check if MAC address filtering is enabled.
Try a Manual Setup
- Go to your phone’s Wi-Fi settings.
- Look for a network named something like DIRECT-HP-8130e.
- If prompted for a password, enter the Wi-Fi Direct password from the printer’s network page.
Factory Reset the Printer
- If none of the above work, perform a full reset:
- Turn off the printer.
- Hold down the Wireless and Cancel buttons while turning it on.
- Follow on-screen instructions to set it up again.
Try these and let me know what happens! 💙
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨
