I would really like to print to my colour. LaserJet 2025 from my iPad, but have not found a way of doing this so far. There was a hint in one forum that this might be possible using an additional piece of kit from HP, but this was never specified. Can anybody help ?

If it has ethernet you can connect to router using a cat5 or better cable.  if not possible to run a cable then either a power line ethernet adapter or a USB / WiFi print server.  Print servers are difficult to setup as they are not plug and play.  Power line ethernet cannot be used on a power strip or any circuit that has surge suppressors as that filters out the signal.

If your LJ is connected to the router then the iPad should be able to find it.

If you are using the printer in WiFi direct mode then the iPad needs to be on the same band 2.4ghz or 5ghz that the printer uses.  It also needs to be AirPrint qualified and I do not see it listed as qualified.

Get a network report from your LJ and see if it is on the router or in WiFi direct mode.

Thank you for your speedy response. I don’t believe that this model of HP printer is air print qualified, and probably predates the introduction of air print! At present I don’t have it connected to the router, just to my principal desktop computer by USB. I’ve not tried working on this yet, hence my desire to get some ideas on how to proceed. As I understand it, the printer itself would be “dumb “with the necessary software usually on the iPad sending something that the printer could interpret. There is no Wi-Fi direct route with this printer unless there is an additional component that I can add - but haven’t traced. I will take Off your suggestion to run a network report once I have linked it to the router. Having never linked it to the network before I was blind to that source of information. Thanks again,

Thanks for your help. Guess I should just have to keep on using my more modern but inferior Wi-Fi enabled printer to pair up with the iPad. if I need the higher quality, I will transfer my files to my win 11 machine and print from there.cheers!
