I own a laserjet m139we printer. I subscribed to the ink program but later decided not to renew. Since then I have been having issues with my printer. It says that I have to connect to the internet but it already is. I have printed many reports and they all state that the printer is connected. I have reset in various occasions my printer and router. The hp smart app is not so smart in helping me. The wifi light is blue and steady in the printer but there is an orange exclamation light flashing beneath it.

@Fredis787, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
We understand that you have cancelled HP instant ink subscription, at the end of the billing cycle, you must remove Instant Ink cartridges and purchase Original HP Ink or Toner directly from the retailer of your choice to continue printing. Instant Ink cartridges only work in enrolled printers.
I understand you're facing an issue where your LaserJet M139we printer says it needs to be connected to the internet, even though reports show it's already connected. You've also mentioned a flashing orange exclamation light, which is a helpful clue.
Check Web Services Status
Even if Wi-Fi is connected (solid blue light), Web Services might be disabled or malfunctioning.
- Go to the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS):
- Type the printer’s IP address (found on the network configuration report) into a browser.
- Navigate to Web Services tab.
- If Web Services are disabled, enable them.
- If already enabled, try disabling and re-enabling them.
Remove HP+ or Instant Ink Enrollment (if applicable)
Since you opted out of Instant Ink, ensure the printer is no longer tied to HP+ restrictions.
- Visit your HP account at HP Instant Ink Portal
- Remove the printer from your account if it still appears.
- Factory reset the printer to clear HP+ settings:
- On the printer, press and hold the Cancel (X) and Wireless buttons together until the printer restarts.
Check for Firmware Updates
Outdated firmware can cause connectivity and service issues.
- Use the HP Smart App or visit HP Software & Driver Downloads to update your printer firmware.
Resolve the Orange Exclamation Light
This light typically indicates a service or configuration issue.
- After resetting Web Services and removing HP+ ties, the light should stop flashing.
- If it persists, try a full network reset:
- Reset router and printer.
- Reconnect printer to Wi-Fi using HP Smart App.
- Re-enable Web Services.
