I tried changing the IP address to what is shown in that screenshot below and the 008.008.008.008 and the 008.008.004.004 directly on the printer and that didn't work.

Please restore the network settings on the printer and connect it to the network again.

Connect the printer to the Wi-Fi network (printers with a touchscreen)

Use the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer control panel to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

  1. Place the printer near the network router.

  2. Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.

  3. From the Wireless  or Setup  menu, select Network setup or Settings, and then select Restore Network Settings.

  4. Get the network name and password. Go to Find the wireless network password or PIN to connect an HP printer for more information.

  5. From the Setup, Network, or Wireless settings menu, select Wireless Setup Wizard.

  6. Select your network, and then enter the password.

    NOTE:

If the Wireless Setup Wizard is not listed, select Wi-Fi Protected Setup or WPS, select Push Button, and then follow the steps to connect to the network.

Only on my phones. On my iMac even the HP Smart app can't find the computer.

On your iMac, Add the AirPrint printer to the Mac printer queue

Confirm you are using AirPrint by adding the printer in System Preferences.

  1. Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

  2. Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, and then do one of the following steps.

    • If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm it is set up for AirPrint. Click the printer name, click the minus sign  to delete the printer, click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name and then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, and then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed in the Add Printer or Scanner window, go to the Frequently asked questions in this document to resolve connection issues, try to add the printer again, and then continue to the next step.

  3. Confirm AirPrint or Secure AirPrint displays in the Use or Print Using menu, and then click Add.

  4. Open a document or photo, click File, and then click Print.

Changed printer to 2.4ghz only and I changed the setting from auto to 7 on the router. Voila!! It works. Thank you for all the diligence on this.

It really all had to do with the router setting. If you have a Netgear mesh system check the channel within the 2.5 and 5 ghz setting. 7 on the 2.5 ghz seemed to work best. I believe this problem arose from a recent firmware upgrade that removed the compartmentalizing of devices.
