HP ENVY Photo 6200
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP ENVY Photo 6200 printer. I installed it and are able to print through wifi direct connection using an android smartphone.
I need to use the printer from my Windows PC, too, both for print and scan. I installed the HP Smart App but the printer is unreachable. The printer has been properly configured with the home wifi password, and it seems to have got the IP address from my Access Gateway (even though does not ping).
Nontheless there is non way to print: the print is offline.
Can anybody help me?

@Phantos, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print wirelessly from your PC.

If you are not able to PING to the printer IP address, it means there is no connectivity between the devices.

Note: Wifi-Direct is different from a wireless network. It is used if you do not have access to a wireless router.

Let us try these steps:

Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the PC

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Now, check the HP Smart app and add the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for the reply.

I switched-off the 5GHz wifi: the priter succeded an connecting to my home-LAN.

Mind: It is a best practice to have the same SSID on 2,4GHz and 5Hz, in order to let devices to select the best one. All the devices I have (PC, tablet, smartphone, smart TV, with Windows, Android, IOS and linux OS) has no problem.  I expect that this flaw will be fixed soon.

But the printer still does not work. The strange thing is that using a PC connected with a cable to my router I can ping it. No ping from a PC connected to the Wify network, the same which the printer is connected to and from which I can ping the router and the other PC. It seems that ARP fails. (btw: I checked that the MAC address I ping to is the one of the printer).

Anyway from both the PC "HP smart" does not reveal the printer.

If the SSID for both the bands are the same, the printer gets confused and may not connect to a network. Hence the SSID should be different.

You may connect the printer to either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band.

Check if MAC address filtering is enabled on the router. Once the printer is connected to the network, print a network configuration page.

  1. On the printer control panel, touch the Setup icon .

  2. Touch Tools.

  3. Swipe down, and then touch Network Configuration Page to print the page, which can be up to three pages long. Check the details.

Let me know how it goes.

I switched off the 5GHz Wifi. Currently only one band is active.

The problem still exist. The printer diagnostic is:

  Wireless: every this is OK

  Conncetivity: OK

  Network: OK

  Settings: everything OK

  CURRENT CONFIGURATION:

    - SSID = Telecom-xxx [it is my wify]

    - HW MAC; 84:a9:3e:9b:a4:b4

    - IP address: 192.168.1.2

    - Communication: Infrastructure [I translate from italina - non idea of the meaning]

    - Authenticatiopn: WPA2-PSK

    - Crypto: AES

    - Internet: Connected

The router knows about the printer:

802.11n 24 Mbit/s HP9BA4B4 84:a9:3e:9b:a4:b4 192.168.1.2

But no ping from my PC

Thank you for the detailed information. I see that the printer has a valid IP of 192.168.1.2, however, you are not able to ping the printer.

In this case, restart the router, the printer, and the PC

Check and change the wireless channel number on the router to 1, 6, or 11 for less interference by accessing the EWS page of the router.

Now, check the IP address of the printer and try to ping.

Let me know how it goes.
