Hi @keeleyjb,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer randomly stopping printing!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check the power supply.
- Ensure Stable Power: Make sure the printer is securely connected to a power source.
- Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it. Wait for about a minute, plug it back in, and turn it on.
Check the Connection
- USB Connection: If using a USB cable, ensure it's firmly connected to both the printer and the computer.
- Wireless Connection: Ensure the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network. You can verify this on the printer's control panel.
Check Printer Status
- Default Printer: Make sure the HP DeskJet 2820e is set as the default printer in your computer's settings.
- Printer Queue: Clear any pending print jobs in the queue that might be causing a blockage. Go to Devices and Printers on your computer, select the printer, and clear the queue.
Paper and Ink
- Paper Check: Ensure there is paper loaded and that it is properly stacked in the input tray.
- Ink Levels: Check that there is sufficient ink in the printer cartridges. Replace any low or empty cartridges.
Update Printer Drivers
- Download Latest Drivers: Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer.
Check for Firmware Updates
- Make sure the printer firmware is up-to-date. You can check and update the firmware through the HP Smart app or the printer's embedded web server.
I hope this helps.
