My printer automatically updated the its FW to VERPIAPP1N003.2025A.00

Since than it will loose IPv4 connectivity every day and I need to restart the printer.

I can reach the printer settings via IPv6 address, but I can't change the settings to enable IPv4 (click apply value is not changed)

If I reboot the printer it will switch back to both IPv4 & IPv6 selected, but will work like this for a day and than it looks like the IPv4 stack is not working anymore. Already tried to factory reset the printer and even set a static IP address in the printer. After a day it will disable IPv4.
Is there any way to downgrade the printer firmware? This was working fine until that update, any other solution to this?

Thanks.

Hi @thecode,

I'd like to help!

We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I though the reset helped, but 3 days after the same problem. The printer lose the Ipv4 option (and won't let enable this in settings) and I have to reboot the printer to make it work.
This printer was working fine and this problem started from the last July update.
Is there any option to downgrade the firmware?

@thecode,

Set a manual IP-

To set a manual IP and try the steps below -

--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address

--->Open a web browser (ex Chrome or Mozilla) and type in the printer's IP

--->then go to network ---> general ---> network protocols ---> select IPV4 only-->apply

--->go to wireless ---> wireless 802.11---> select manual ip ---> apply

--->Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.

--->then go to settings on the main ews page --> power management ---> select sleep mode to max 15min

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for the efforts.
I have tried setting manual IP before. When the "IPv4" selection in protocol stops working, the manual settings are also gone.
Anyway this did not solve the problem and printer is already at 15min sleep.
I hope there is some way to downgrade the printer or a fix for that will come up soon.
For now I have to reboot the printer every few days.

May I know the device you use with the printer with, a Windows computer, Mac, Android, or an iPhone?

The printer is used with 3 windows 10 PC's and 2 Android smartphones. I don't see how is this related. The printer is used once a week so most of the time it is not used and I have monitored the printer by pinging both to the IPv4 IP address and IPv6 IP address while it is not used by any client.
The printer will stop responding to ping in IPv4, while the IPv6 still works. I have tried to reboot the router and APs to rule this out or completely turn off the AP closest to the printer to let it connect to a far access point. In both cases the printer reconnects to the router but the IPv4 checkbox in the printer web settings is disabled (and both the manual IP address settings are not displayed).

Can you print a wireless test report and share the results -

To print the wireless test report -

1. On the printer control panel display, from the Home screen, touch ( Wireless ), and then touch ( Settings ).

2. Touch Print Reports

3. Touch Wireless Test Report.

Keep me posted with the results!

I see that you have already tried all the necessary troubleshooting steps and yet the issue persists. I think this issue needs some additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction or a remote session with our HP Support team.
