Using Mac OS Sequoia 15.4.1, removed HP black cartridge to check for possible leaking, cleaned contacts and reinstalled. Now error message states cartridge previously used and printer will not print now. Tried restore procedures and nothing works.

Try these steps:
Turn Off and Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Turn the printer back on.
- Check if the error message persists.
Reinstall Ink Cartridges Correctly:
- Carefully remove the black ink cartridge from the printer.
- Ensure the electrical contacts on both the ink cartridge and printer are clean.
- Reinsert the cartridge into the slot firmly, making sure it is seated correctly.
- Close the ink cartridge cover and check if the error message is cleared.
Reset the Printer:
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer while it is still on.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
- Turn the printer back on and check if the error continues.
Check for Firmware Updates:
Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.
Check Ink Cartridge Compatibility:
- Verify that the ink cartridge is compatible with the HP OfficeJet 6978 model.
- Sometimes using previously used or refilled cartridges may cause recognition issues.
