Hello! So apparently it works! It just takes 10-15 minutes to send to the printer. I just had my printer print 10 documents straight as it was backed up in the queue. However, I now have a new question. Why does it take 10 minutes to print?

Hi @njk146,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet 4622 printer is experiencing a delay in processing print jobs, which can be caused by a variety of factors. Here are some potential causes and solutions for the delay:

1. Print Queue Overload or Corruption

  • Sometimes, a print queue can get backed up or corrupted, causing delays. It might help to clear the print queue.
  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, and select See what's printing. Clear any pending jobs in the queue.

2. Wi-Fi Connection Issues

  • Since the printer is connected via Wi-Fi, delays could be related to a slow or unstable connection. Check your Wi-Fi signal strength where the printer is located. Consider moving the printer closer to the router or using a wired connection to test if the issue persists.
  • If you notice slow internet speeds, restarting your router might help improve the connection.

3. Large Print Jobs or Complex Documents

  • If you are trying to print large or complex documents, like those with high-resolution images or heavy formatting, this can cause delays. Try printing simpler documents to see if the delay is reduced.

4. Outdated Printer Drivers or HP Smart App HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

5. Background Processes or Software Conflicts

  • Other programs or processes running on your computer can sometimes interfere with print jobs. Try closing unnecessary applications, especially those that might be using network resources.

6. Printer Firmware Update Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check for a firmware update for your printer. HP occasionally releases updates that fix bugs and improve performance. You can do this via the HP Smart app or directly through the printer's menu.

7. Print Spooler Service

  • The Print Spooler service on your computer might be causing the delay. To reset it:
    1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    2. Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.

8. Network Printer Settings

  • Check if your printer is set to offline mode. Even though it shows as "Ready," the printer might still be in offline mode on your computer. Ensure that the printer is set as the default and is online.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for that detailed post! I think updated Drivers and Software would be a good first start. However, when I download the most recent version on your link attached. Once downloaded, it is asking me "Are you sure you want this app to make changes to your Device" and then to type in Username and Password to continue installation. What Username and Password am I typing in here?
