I am on Mac OS Sonoma 14.4.1, The printer is connected to the wifi, it is configured via the hpsmart app, but I cannot print with it and I don't have a clear error message.
The prints are just stuck in the queue, and I get this weird message in the printer settings saying that I have a problem with my hp account, and I have no printer linked to my account so I cannot do anything with it.
This is the same error if I install the printer via the OS or via the hpSmart App.
Please help 🙂

Hi @Nicolaslpp,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like there could be an issue with your HP account or the printer's connection to your Mac. Here are a few steps to troubleshoot the problem.
Clear Printer Queue:
- On your Mac, open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Select the HP LaserJet MFP M139-M142 printer.
- Click Open Print Queue.
- If there are stuck print jobs, click the X next to each print job to cancel them.
Reinstall Printer:
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your printer and click the Minus (-) to remove it.
- Restart your Mac.
- Re-add the printer by clicking the Plus (+) button and selecting the HP LaserJet printer from the list.
Check Printer Connection and Network:
- Ensure that the printer is correctly connected to the Wi-Fi network and the printer’s Wi-Fi signal is stable.
- You may want to restart both the printer and your router to resolve any network-related issues.
Fix HP Account Issue:
- Open the HP Smart App and sign out of your HP account if logged in.
- Sign in again with your correct HP account credentials or create a new one if necessary.
- Ensure that the printer is linked to your HP account by checking the Printers section within the HP Smart App.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Open the HP Smart App and check if there are any firmware updates for your printer.
- If an update is available, install it and restart the printer.
Test with AirPrint:
- After reinstalling, try printing directly through AirPrint (without using HP Smart):
- Open a document or image on your Mac.
- Choose File > Print and select your printer (ensure it shows as an AirPrint option).
- Click Print.
Reset the Printer (Factory Reset):
- If the problem persists, perform a factory reset on the printer:
- Refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to reset the printer to factory settings.
- After resetting, reconfigure it via the HP Smart App.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
