I am trying to upload a new, signed certificate to the printer. I go to the certificate management page on the printer's EWS. I select Configure, then Import. I select the file, and enter the password for the printer (via copy and paste), then Finish. I get an endless round of the Sign In prompt.

Firmware is up to date (20201215).

Hi @ccurley2,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is going into an endless login prompt when trying to upload a new signed certificate, here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:

1. Verify Certificate Format

  • Ensure the certificate file you are trying to upload is in the correct format (usually PEM or DER). If you're unsure, try converting the certificate to a different format and attempt the upload again.

2. Check Password Accuracy

  • Double-check that the password you're entering for the printer is correct. If you're copying and pasting it, ensure there are no extra spaces or hidden characters.

3. Clear Browser Cache

  • Sometimes, a browser cache issue can cause unexpected behavior:
    • Clear your browser cache and cookies, or try accessing the printer's EWS (Embedded Web Server) using a different browser.

4. Use a Different Computer

  • If possible, try uploading the certificate from a different computer to rule out any issues with the original device.

5. Reboot the Printer

  • Restart the printer after attempting the certificate upload. This can sometimes clear temporary issues or errors.

6. Reset Network Settings

  • If the issue persists, consider resetting the network settings on the printer. Note that you will need to reconfigure network settings afterward:
    1. Go to the printer's control panel.
    2. Navigate to Setup > Network > Restore Network Defaults.

7. Factory Reset (as a last resort)

  • If nothing else works, you can perform a factory reset on the printer:
    • This will erase all settings, including network configurations, so make sure to back up any important settings before proceeding.
    • Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Of the solutions I tried none worked.

1. Verify Certificate Format: I don't know how to do that. I am using easy-rsa which does not seem to have any way to do that.

2. Check Password Accuracy: Done. It would help if I had the option to see the password as pasted in to the dialog box.

4. Use a Different Computer: Done. No go.

5. Reboot the Printer: Done. No go.

Additional information: After running the dialog box several times, I hit the "Cancel" button. I got:
