Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

This seems to be a little tricky, since I never found a similar problem description online:

I have three different IP networks all dedicated subnets, in fact all in different locations connected through IPsec-VPNs.

When I try to print to an HP printer - does not really matter which model, I have tried several - in, say, subnet A from a Mac on subnet B, the job will be transferred into the queue and then just disappears without any printout or reaction at the device. The printer is always shown as online, I can connect through the utilities and via the printer's web console, I can print within the same subnet without any problems, but never from on of the other subnets. I can access any other service across, be it a NAS, a web console or a remote connection via SSH or VNC. No ports are blocked between the subnets.

Will be happy for any suggestion, this bugs me for months now....

Thanks

Tom

It's a wired connection and the network connect is never lost.

Hello @werfger435543tr

Ideally, to see if it's the printer, we should test it on another network.

Can you test it?

Best regards

Yep, tried to print from the same client to an MFP140w in the third location. Worked like a charm. Was using the OS’s AirPrint driver though since there is no HP driver available for this model for macOS. Will try next week to use AirPrint for the other one…

Hi @werfger435543tr

Apparently it's something wrong with the printer or an incompatibility.

Best regards

Said it was tricky, but thanks anyways. Printer works fine within its subnet with the HP drivers, but I will test with using only AirPrint next week. I assume it‘s a driver issue.

It works when selecting AirPrint, but not with the traditional protocols, which is a little strange...
