HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I can't get the touchscreen on my HP Officejet Pro 6978 to work.  I am trying to connect my printer to wifi, and the touchscreen will not work for the settings or wifi when I touch those icons. I have powered down, disconnected to reset and tried everything I know to fix it in the app and on my computer.  Any suggestions?

@Justmeasking, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Touchscreen Issues on HP OfficeJet Pro 6978!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If the touchscreen on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer is not responding, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware. You can download updates from the HP Support website.

Calibration:

  • If available, check the printer’s manual or settings for touchscreen calibration options and follow the instructions to recalibrate the touchscreen.

Inspect the Touchscreen:

  • Make sure the screen is clean and there are no obstructions preventing it from registering your touch. You can use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the screen.

Check Touchscreen Sensitivity Settings:

  • Explore the printer settings to see if there are any options related to touchscreen sensitivity or responsiveness.

Reset Network Settings:

  • If the issue relates to connecting to Wi-Fi, reset the network settings using the printer's control panel guided steps.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
