I am trying to set up a printer to have internet access and don't know how to do it. I thought diagnosis and fix would do it.

This was not helpful. I have very little on my printer and I don't know how you would accept a connection to the wifi and even type a password. I took a picture of what it looks like. The stuff just keeps blinking.501445980_10235228743357276_7261309656460381844_n.jpg

My HP Smart App won't let me get into advanced settings. It is grayed out.

Hi @slstrake,

Thank you for sharing the image of the printer control panel screen. Please try the steps shared below, this will help get the printer connected to the new network.

Step 1: Perform a Network or Factory Reset

To Reset the Network Settings:

For most HP printers with button-based control panels:

  1. Turn on the printer and wait until it's idle.
  2. Press and hold:
    • Wi-Fi (📶) and Cancel () buttons together for 5–10 seconds, until the Power light blinks.
  3. The wireless light will blink, indicating the network settings have been reset.

📌 On some models, you may need to press and hold Wireless + Black Copy buttons or Wireless + Cancel — consult your printer's manual if unsure.

Step 2: Set Up with HP Smart App

  1. Download the HP Smart app: HP printer setup (HP Smart app) | HP® Support
  2. Open the HP Smart app and create or sign in to your HP account.
  3. Click “Add Printer”.
  4. The app will search for printers in Setup Mode (this happens automatically after a reset).
  5. When your printer appears, select it and follow the prompts to:
    • Connect it to your Wi-Fi network
    • Complete printer registration and Instant Ink setup (optional)

If the printer doesn’t show up, ensure the Wi-Fi light is blinking and your phone or PC is on the same network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
