Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

macOS 12.0 Monterey

I have a Smart Tank 7305. It is refusing to print or copy, except  from my laptop. And often won't, even from my laptop, if I am in another room, even though the Wifi network is working well and the printer is on the Wifi network.

We are working in a small business team and it is essential that everyone can use the printer.

I suspect the problem may be that I set up WiFiDirect when I first set up the printer. I can't find a way of turning it off.  I'm assuming that if the WiFi Direct icon is showing in the control panel, that Wifi Direct is on.

How do I turn WiFi Direct off, so the printer is responding to any requests via our internal WiFi network.? Any ideas??

Hi @9_heather,

Please try this: Press the Wi-Fi button and the Resume button at the same time it will help to turn off the wifi direct.

I have shared a link of the manual that will help.  https://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c07762999.pdf

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @9_heather,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Turning off WiFi Direct on your HP Smart Tank 7305 printer can help resolve issues with printing and copying from devices connected to your internal WiFi network. Here’s how you can disable WiFi Direct and ensure your printer uses your regular WiFi network:

1. Access Printer Control Panel

Turn On the Printer:

  • Ensure your HP Smart Tank 7305 is powered on and ready.

Navigate to the Control Panel:

  • Use the printer’s control panel (usually a touchscreen) to access settings.

2. Disable WiFi Direct

Open Wireless Settings:

  • On the control panel, go to the Wireless or Network settings menu. This may be found under Setup or Network Settings, depending on your model.

Find WiFi Direct Option:

  • Look for the WiFi Direct option or similar settings related to direct wireless connections.

Turn Off WiFi Direct:

  • Select the WiFi Direct option and choose to turn it off or disable it. You may need to confirm your choice or select an option like Disable WiFi Direct.

3. Ensure Printer is Connected to Network

Verify Network Connection:

  • Go back to the Network Settings and confirm that the printer is connected to your regular WiFi network.

Print Network Configuration Page:

  • You can print a network configuration page from the printer settings to ensure it is connected to your desired network.

4. Restart Printer

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about 30 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Verify Settings:

  • Once the printer is back on, check the control panel to make sure WiFi Direct is off and the printer is connected to your regular network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for your reply Rachel,

My Smart Tank 7305 doesn't have a touch screen control panel. The buttons are hard to navigate and I can't register my printer on my Smart Tank App, because it doesn't recognise the Serial Number, which has an omega symbol in it ( a O with a horizontal line through the middle - I can't even copy and paste it into this post from my advanced symbols file)

I will try to find a way to access the wireless/network settings from the manual; and then follow your instructions. I did before, to set up the internal WiFi network, which the printer says is on.

Any other ideas or instructions?

cheers,

Heather
