When trying to reconnect my printer via the HP Smart app, it says a custom password has been set.
I tried the reset as advised here, the report prints saying Admin Password: Not set, but still gives me the same error:
Any other advice would be appreciated! TIA

Hi @Jai72,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're unable to connect to your HP DeskJet 3632 printer and the HP Smart app indicates a custom password has been set, but the printer's report says "Admin Password: Not set," it might be necessary to perform a more thorough reset or troubleshoot the connection further. Here are the steps you can take to resolve this issue:
Steps to Connect and Reset HP DeskJet 3632 Printer
1. Reset the Network Settings:
- Turn on the printer.Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds. This should reset the wireless settings and put the printer into setup mode.
2. Reconnect Using the HP Smart App
- Open the HP Smart app on your mobile device or computer.Ensure your device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want to connect the printer to.In the HP Smart app, click on the Plus (+) sign to add a new printer.
- The app should detect your printer in setup mode. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
3. Factory Reset the Printer
- Ensure the printer is on.Press and hold the Resume (triangle inside a circle) button and the Wi-Fi button together for about 20 seconds.
- Release the buttons when the power button starts blinking. This should reset the printer to its factory default settings.
4. Verify Printer Status:
- After resetting, print a network configuration page to verify the settings. To do this, press the Wireless button and the Information button together.Check the printed page to ensure the network status is ready for setup.
5. Update Printer Firmware:
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page.Enter your printer model and download the latest firmware update.Follow the instructions to install the firmware update on your printer.
6. Use WPS to Connect
- Locate the WPS button on your router and press it.
- Within two minutes, press and hold the Wireless button on your printer for about 3 seconds.
This should connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network without needing to enter a password.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
