I can’t get my printer to reconnect to my new router.  My computer won’t recognize the USB cable.  The WPS method doesn’t do anything; the blue internet button just blinks forever.  I tried using the HP Smart app, but it keeps saying I have the wrong password, even though I know it’s the right password; I’m literally reading the password from my connected computer.  I don’t have any connectivity issues with any of my other devices.  I tried the virtual assistant, but it just said it couldn’t help me because my printer was no longer under warranty.  Please help.

No, it didn’t help.  I found this other thread titled “Configure the printer using the correct WPA passphrase” by user Smitty004 that seems like the same problem I’m having, if that is of any help to you.

You told me not to worry, that you are here to fix it, yet I haven’t heard back.  Please advise.

Hi @Laurariggs
Welcome to HP Support Community. This is a great place to post questions and find answers.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing wi-fi connection issues with your HP printer.

Please follow the steps listed below to restore the printer to its network defaults and then reconnect to the wireless network.

Step 1: Restore the printer to its network defaults.
Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button (X) from the printer control panel together for three seconds.

Step 2: Connect the printer to the device using the HP Smart app:
1. Uninstall HP Smart App if it is installed. Go to 123.hp.com from a browser on your phone or computer and install the HP Smart app.
2. Make sure your mobile device is connected to your wireless network.
Note: Make sure that Bluetooth is turned on. (HP Smart uses Bluetooth to make the setup process faster and easier on iOS and Android mobile devices.)
3. Open the app and then add your printer.
- If your printer displays, continue to the next step.
- If your printer does not display, tap the Plus sign to select a printer from the list of found printers or set up a new one, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Ok, I did everything you said.  I still get stuck when it is « getting the IP address ».  It keeps saying the password is incorrect, even though I know it’s correct.
