I need help! I tried everything! I have a HP LaserJet MFP M139-M142 series. After a general problem with the WLAN (it was broken for a couple minutes) the wlan-button on the printer is flashing. My guess is that the printer can't connect to the Wlan - for any reason.
The question is if the problem is by the printer or by the wlan. Ich read the manual, i tried all options from the HP-App and i asked ChatGPT. I tried all tipps. Nothing's gonna happen.
Please help!

Hi @sadlyprint
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for sharing the details. It’s understandable how frustrating this situation can be—especially after trying multiple steps and still seeing the WLAN light flashing. That typically means the printer is unable to connect to the wireless network.
Let’s walk through a few targeted steps to help resolve this:
1. Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode
This places the printer back into a discoverable state:
- On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button until it starts blinking rapidly.
- Wait about 60 seconds.
- This enables Wi-Fi setup mode so the printer can be detected again.
More details are available in this official guide:

2. Reconnect Using HP Smart
- Open the HP Smart app on your PC or mobile device
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device
- Select Add Printer
- Follow the prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi network
If the printer isn’t detected, try moving it closer to the router and restarting both the printer and your device.
3. Power Cycle Your Network
Sometimes the router itself needs a refresh:
- Turn off the printer
- Unplug your router for 15 seconds, then plug it back in
- Wait for the network to stabilize
- Turn the printer back on and retry the connection
4. Check Router Settings
- Ensure the router is broadcasting on 2.4 GHz, which is compatible with this printer series
- Avoid using hidden SSIDs or MAC address filtering during setup
- If possible, temporarily disable any firewall or parental control settings
5. Reset Network Settings on the Printer
If the issue persists:
- Press and hold the Cancel and Wireless buttons together for 5 seconds
- This resets the printer’s network configuration
- Reattempt setup via HP Smart
If none of these steps resolve the issue, feel free to share your router model or any error codes that appear. I’ll guide you further based on that.
You're doing everything right—just need to pinpoint the missing link.
