Hi @Dpk4
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 is frequently disconnecting from Wi-Fi, here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to stabilize the connection:
1. Check Wi-Fi Signal Strength:
- Ensure your printer is within a good range of your Wi-Fi router. Thick walls or interference from other electronic devices can weaken the signal.
2. Restart Your Network:
- Power cycle your router by unplugging it for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in. This can resolve temporary connectivity issues.
3. Update Printer Firmware:
- Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates via the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app.
- ckick here
4. Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
- Reset Network Settings:
- Go to the printer’s control panel.
- Navigate to Setup > Network > Restore Network Defaults.
- After resetting, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network through Wireless Setup Wizard.
5. Use a Static IP Address:
- Assign a static IP address to your printer to help maintain a stable connection.
- Find the current IP address from the printer's network settings.
- Log into your router’s settings (usually done via a web browser).
- Look for DHCP settings and assign a static IP to your printer’s MAC address.
6. Change Wi-Fi Channel:
- If you have a crowded network (many devices), consider changing the Wi-Fi channel on your router to reduce interference.
- Change it to 2 Ghz
7. Disable Power Saving Settings:
- Some printers have power-saving modes that may disrupt the connection. Ensure any such settings are disabled.
8. Check for Interference:
- Other electronic devices, such as microwaves or cordless phones, can interfere with Wi-Fi signals. Try to position your printer and router away from these devices.
9. Reinstall Printer Software:
- If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the printer software on your computer to ensure all settings are correct.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
