Hi,
I recently got a new router and have two HP printers. My tango printer was able to connect to the WiFi just fine BUT I for the life of me cannot get my laser jet to connect. I’ve turned things off and on, tried reset and nothing works. It seems like I just need to type in the router information to this printer but there’s no touch screen and the app doesn’t tell me anything,, it just keeps searching for the printer with no luck. I see there’s an IP address for the printer but it asks for a password- what password? I don’t remember ever using a password so I’m clueless.
Any advice to get me connected again?

Hi @Lacidamon,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I can imagine how frustrating it must be that your HP Tango connects effortlessly, but your HP LaserJet printer just won’t cooperate with the new router. Let’s walk through a solution that’s simple, safe, and doesn’t require a touchscreen.
How to Connect Your HP LaserJet Printer to Wi-Fi Without a Touchscreen
Step 1: Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode
This puts the printer into a discoverable state.
- Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer until the Power button starts blinking.
- Wait for the Wireless light to blink. This means it’s ready to connect.
Step 2: Connect to the Printer’s Temporary Wi-Fi
- On your computer or phone, go to Wi-Fi settings.
- Look for a network like HP-Setup<YourPrinterModel> and connect to it.
- Open a browser and go to: http://192.168.223.1
- If you see a warning like “Your connection is not private,” click Advanced > Proceed.
Step 3: Log into the Embedded Web Server (EWS)
- Username: admin
- Password: This is usually the WPS PIN, found on the Network Configuration Page.
- To print this page: Press and hold the Resume/Cancel button for 10 seconds.
- Look for the WPS PIN under the Wi-Fi section.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
