@smellymatthews, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Wi-Fi symbol disappearing!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9019/Premier All-in-One Printer has lost its Wi-Fi connection and is stuck in USB mode. Since you've already tried basic troubleshooting, let's go through a few targeted steps to restore the Wi-Fi connection.
Restart and Check Network Connection
- Power Cycle: Turn off your printer, unplug it from power for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Router Check: Restart your Wi-Fi router as well to ensure the network is stable.
- Proximity: Make sure the printer is within a good range of the router (not too far or obstructed).
Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode
If your printer is not showing the Wi-Fi symbol and the blue light is off, you need to reset the wireless settings:
- Press and hold the Wireless button (or Wi-Fi icon) and the Cancel button simultaneously for 5 seconds.
- The Wi-Fi light should start blinking, meaning it's in Wi-Fi setup mode.
Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi
- On your computer or mobile, open the HP Smart app.
- Select Set up a new printer and follow the prompts.
- Choose your Wi-Fi network, enter the password, and complete the connection.
Check Printer Network Settings
If the printer is still not connecting:
- On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings.
- Ensure Wireless is turned ON.
- Select Restore Network Defaults, then reconnect to Wi-Fi.
Use Wi-Fi Direct Temporarily (For Printing)
- If needed, you can use Wi-Fi Direct by selecting it on the printer’s display.
- However, this will not allow Instant Ink usage, as it requires an active internet connection.
Check for Firmware Updates (Manually)
Since you cannot update firmware via the internet:
- Download the latest firmware update file from the HP support website on another device.
- Use a USB cable to transfer and install the update.
Let me know how it goes!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
