I have a HP Desk Jet 2700 All in One Printer

It was printing fine from my computer to my printer.  Now it is not.

1.  Printer seems to be fine for wireless

2. Computer seems to be fine to be connected to the internet

3.  I didn't set up a WI-FI Direct (that I know about)

not sure what else to do.  This is the first time I have a printer which has no cables.

Hi @CathyEDM,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 2700 series printer was printing fine but suddenly stopped working, and you're sure that both your printer and computer are connected to the internet, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check Printer and Computer Connection

  • Verify Wireless Connection: Make sure your printer is still connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. You can usually check this on the printer's control panel or via the HP Smart app.
  • Check Printer Status: Ensure that the printer is turned on and is not displaying any error messages.

2. Restart Devices

  • Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on.
  • Restart Computer: Sometimes, restarting your computer can resolve connectivity issues.

3. Update Printer Software and Drivers

  • HP Smart App: If you have the HP Smart app installed, open it and check for any updates or reconfigure the printer setup.
  • Download Drivers: Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your DeskJet 2700 series.

4. Reconfigure Wireless Settings

  • Re-add Printer: Go to your computer’s printer settings and remove the current printer setup. Then, add the printer again.
    • On Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click Remove device. Then, click Add a printer or scanner and follow the instructions.
    • On Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click the - button to remove it. Then, click the + button to add it again.
  • Wi-Fi Direct: If your printer supports Wi-Fi Direct, you can connect your computer to the printer directly through this feature if needed.

5. Check for Printer Errors

  • Printer Display: Look at the printer’s display for any error messages or prompts that might indicate a problem.
  • HP Print and Scan Doctor: This tool can help diagnose and fix common printer problems. Download it from the HP website and follow the instructions.

6. Ensure Correct Printer is Selected

  • Default Printer: Ensure that your HP DeskJet 2700 is set as the default printer on your computer.
    • On Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, and ensure your printer is set as the default.
    • On Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click Default Printer.

7. Check Network Settings

  • Printer’s IP Address: Sometimes, re-entering the printer’s IP address in your computer’s printer settings can resolve connectivity issues. You can find the IP address from the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
