Hi @KC0007 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw not connecting to your wireless router and showing an invalid WPA passphrase error, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the problem:
Double-check Passphrase:
- Make sure you are entering the correct WPA passphrase. Pay attention to uppercase and lowercase letters, as well as any special characters.
- If possible, try typing the passphrase directly on the printer (if it has a touchscreen interface) to ensure accuracy.
Restart Printer:
- Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
Restart Router:
- Power cycle your wireless router. Unplug it, wait for about 10-15 seconds, and then plug it back in. Allow the router to fully restart.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware may address known issues and improve overall performance.
Check Wireless Signal Strength:
- Ensure that the printer is within the range of your wireless router and that there are no physical obstructions affecting the signal.
Connect via USB:
- If possible, try connecting the printer to your computer using a USB cable. This can help you determine if the issue is specific to the wireless connection.
Reset Network Settings:
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to the network settings and reset the network configuration. After doing this, re-enter the correct wireless information.
Printer Software Reinstallation:
- Uninstall the printer software on your Mac and reinstall it. Make sure you download the latest drivers and software from the HP website.
Check MAC Address Filtering:
- Ensure that MAC address filtering on your router is not blocking the printer. Add the printer's MAC address to the allowed devices list if necessary.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
