@mouse423, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer is "asleep" and not responding, here are a few steps you can try to wake it up:

Press the Power or Cancel Button

  • Most HP printers will wake up if you press the Power or Cancel button once. Avoid holding it down unless you're trying to restart the printer.

Send a Print Job

  • Try printing a document from your computer. This often wakes the printer automatically.

Check Sleep Settings

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to:
    • Setup > Preferences > Sleep Mode
    • Adjust the sleep timer or disable sleep mode temporarily.

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug it from the power source for 30 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Update Firmware (if needed)

  • Outdated firmware can cause sleep/wake issues. You can update it using HP Smart or from the printer’s support page:

Check for Connectivity Issues

  • If you're printing wirelessly, make sure the printer is still connected to your Wi-Fi network.
  • You can re-run the wireless setup from the printer’s control panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
