I have the HP laserjet M110w. My computer is Mac running Monterey 12.7.6
I ran the diagnostic check with the HP app and it says there is nothing wrong with the printer. I have restarted everything, restarted the modem... done all the trouble shooting I can find. Nothing is working. The orange light with the ! is still blinking and the message says Printer cannot print.

Hi @LouisaMc,
Thank you for sharing the details.
When your HP LaserJet M110w printer is showing an orange light with the "!" and your Mac (running macOS Monterey 12.7.6) reports that the printer cannot print, despite diagnostics indicating nothing is wrong, it typically points to a communication or configuration issue. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
1. Check for Paper Jams and Cartridge Issues
- Paper Jams: Open all access panels and carefully check for any paper jams or obstructions.
- Cartridge Installation: Ensure the toner cartridge is properly installed. Remove it and reinstall it to ensure it’s seated correctly.
2. Reset the Printer
- Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 1 minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Factory Reset:
- Refer to the printer’s manual for instructions on performing a factory reset. This can sometimes resolve configuration issues.
3. Check Printer Status and Settings on Mac
- Delete and Re-add Printer:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your HP LaserJet M110w printer and click the "-" button to remove it.
- Click the "+" button to add the printer again, ensuring it’s connected via Wi-Fi.
- Check Printer Queue:
- In Printers & Scanners, select your printer and click Open Print Queue.
- Ensure there are no stuck print jobs. If there are, clear them and try printing again.
4. Update Printer Firmware and Drivers
- Firmware Update:
- Visit the HP Support website and search for the latest firmware updates for the HP LaserJet M110w.
- Download and install the firmware update following the instructions provided.
- Driver Update:
- Ensure you have the latest drivers for macOS Monterey. You can download these from the HP Support website.
Kindly check the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

- Press the Wi-Fi button on the printer to connect using WPS.
6. HP Smart App Troubleshooting
- Use HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app on your Mac.
- Check the printer status and follow any troubleshooting steps provided by the app.
- Reinstall HP Smart App:
- Delete the HP Smart app and reinstall it from the Mac App Store.
- Re-add your printer in the app and follow the setup instructions.
7. Check for System Updates
- macOS Update:
- Ensure macOS Monterey is up-to-date. Go to System Preferences > Software Update and install any available updates.
8. Check Firewall and Security Settings
- Firewall Settings:
