Hi @KeiMep123,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out regarding your HP OfficeJet Pro 8134e All-in-One Printer. We understand that your printer works perfectly on Wi-Fi, but when you connect via Ethernet with a static IP, it shows offline in Windows 11.

This experience can be frustrating, especially when you're aiming for a more stable wired connection. Let’s resolve this together.

Step 1: Verify Physical Ethernet Connection

  • Make sure the Ethernet cable is firmly plugged in
  • Confirm that the Ethernet port light on the printer is solid green or blinking
  • If no light: try another cable or port on the router/switch

Step 2: Assign a Valid Static IP

  1. On the printer’s control panel, navigate to:
    • Settings > Network Setup > Ethernet Settings > TCP/IP
  2. Set to Manual (Static)
  3. Enter an IP within your router’s range (e.g., if the router is 192.168.1.1, choose 192.168.1.100)
  4. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
  5. Default Gateway: Your router IP (e.g., 192.168.1.1)
  6. DNS: You can use 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS) for reliability

Step 3: Access Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  • From your PC, open a browser and go to the static IP you assigned (e.g., http://192.168.1.100)
  • If it loads, the printer is successfully on the network
  • If it doesn’t load, something is blocking the wired network connection

Step 4: Reinstall the Printer Using Ethernet IP

  1. On Windows 11, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
  2. Remove the existing (Wi-Fi) printer
  3. Click Add a printer > Add manually
  4. Choose Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname
  5. Enter the static IP address from Step 2
  6. Follow the prompts to install as a new Ethernet printer

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @KeiMep123,

Thank you for letting me know. Please try the Hard reset and firmware update, and then try the above steps and let me know.

Please remove the Cartridges from the Printer if possible, and try a Hard Reset. Do keep us posted to help you better

** Hard reset :
1. Turn the printer on if it is not already on.
2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
8. Turn on the printer if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
9. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

HP Smart App: Please uninstall the HP Smart app --> restart the Device, Wi-Fi router and printer, --> install it back and add the printer.

HP Firmware Update: Please update the Firmware from the link. This will help to update the firmware on the printer or devices.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello Vikramthegreat, I am grateful that you will help me.

The hard reset is completed, and hp smart is installed.

But the printer is found by hp smart but with a different IP adress, and when i choose these printer it says printer is offline.

Later on the printer is not found

So no solution so far.

I tried many things but nothing works. Now it says ip-automatic, and i cannot reset it to DHCP or handmade. When i choose handmade he finds the  subnetmask not good even as the standard gate way. the messag sais that the info misses or is incorredct. please try again.

i am hopeless that we can solve this.

Hi @KeiMep123,

Thanks for reaching out, and I completely understand how frustrating network issues like this can be. Let’s take it step by step and see if we can bring your HP OfficeJet Pro 8134e back online properly.

Here’s what I recommend trying next:

1. Manually Set a Static IP (Alternate Method via Embedded Web Server)

If HP Smart sees the printer (even briefly), try the following:

  • Open a browser and type the IP address you briefly see for the printer.
  • This opens the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  • Go to Network > IPv4 Configuration and set a Manual (Static) IP Address.
    • Use an IP similar to your router, e.g., if your router is 192.168.1.1, use 192.168.1.250.
    • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    • Default Gateway: your router’s IP (e.g., 192.168.1.1)

Once done:

  • Save and reboot the printer.
  • Then go to HP Smart and try re-adding the printer.

2. Reset Network Settings on the Printer

If that doesn’t help:

  • Reset the network settings directly on the printer:
    • Go to the printer control panel.
    • Tap Settings > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
    • Restart the printer after resetting.
    • Then use HP Smart to set it up again as a new printer.

3. Advanced: Assign IP via Router

If the printer keeps getting odd IPs:

  • Log in to your router.
  • Look for “DHCP settings” or “Connected Devices”.
  • Find the printer and assign it a reserved (static) IP.

This prevents the printer’s IP from constantly changing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
