I have a message that says Printhead appears to be missing or not detected. I reinstalled but it still does not work. This happened right after printing, so it worked seconds ago.

@HeidiHeidi13, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printhead Not Detected!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you encounter a message indicating that a printhead is missing or not detected, here is a step-by-step guide to resolve the issue:

Check Printhead Installation:

  • Make sure that the printhead is installed correctly. Remove the printhead completely from the carriage and reinsert it, ensuring that it clicks into place.

Inspect Electrical Contacts:

  • Check the electrical contacts on both the printhead and the carriage. If they are dirty, follow the cleaning procedure using a damp lint-free cloth or suitable cleaning kit to gently clean the contact pads. Avoid touching the printhead nozzles to prevent damage.
  • Cleaning Electrical Contacts

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on to see if the issue persists.

Replace Ink System Key:

  • Press the Replace Ink System key to check the ink systems thoroughly. If you know which part of the ink system is causing trouble, focus on that section.

Reset the Printer:

  • If reseating doesn’t work, you may need to reset the printer. Refer to the user manual or contact HP support for guidance on how to perform a reset specific to your printer model.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
