@Chris4762, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you're having some trouble with your Smart Tank 5101 not connecting to Wi-Fi after entering the password. If you’re sure the password is correct and the network is right, here are a few things you could try:
Check Network Compatibility:
2.4GHz vs 5GHz: The Smart Tank 5101 might only support the 2.4GHz band, not 5GHz. Make sure you’re connecting to the 2.4GHz version of your Wi-Fi network.
Wi-Fi Channel: Some devices struggle with certain channels. Try switching your router to a channel between 1 and 11 if it’s set higher than that.
Reboot Router and Tank:
Restart both your Wi-Fi router and the Smart Tank 5101. This can often solve connectivity issues by clearing up any temporary glitches.
Try turning off the Wi-Fi on your phone or other devices, then reconnect.
Forget the Network and Try Again:
If you've previously connected the device to the Wi-Fi network, try having the Smart Tank forget the saved network settings and reconnect from scratch.
On the device setup screen, see if there's an option to reset or clear network settings before entering the password again.
Confirm the Password:
Double-check that the password doesn't have any extra spaces or characters when entering it.
Make sure your network isn't using a special character or setting that might be incompatible.
Run HP Smart:
- Download and run the HP Smart. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
- Refer: Use Diagnose & Fix in HP Smart to repair common printing issues (Windows, macOS) | HP® Support
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
