I tried all of the above suggestions and then more but still didn't correct my situation until I replaced the router. Since then the problem stop scanning has not occurred since. I believe there were too many wireless devices connected to the old router and it wasn't able to handle them all.

Hi karstenp,
Does this happen on more than one computer?
Do you have a different router you can try to see if this issue remains?

Hi karstenp,
There is one more thing i would like for you to try before having you contact support. This may be related to hardware, and doing the following steps may help isolate the issue. Let me know what happens?
Follow the steps below to uninstall and reinstall the printer.
1. Open Control Panel
2. Click on Uninstall a program
3. Uninstall the Photosmart 7510 from the list
4. Reboot your computer
5. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
6. Download the full feature software and drivers, and then reinstall the printer.

Hi karstenp,
Have you tried setting a static IP address for the printer?
Follow Step six: Assign your HP product a static IP address in the document at the link below.

Hi karstenp,
Have you tried switching it back to a DHCP address assigned by the router to see if you experience the same issues?
I have the same exact printer at my home, and i have not had any issues with scan to computer activation, and I let my router assign the IP address.
Let me know what you find out?
