To all HP support, especially the most recent response from HP support: You're suggestions have resolved nothing and my printer continues to state INVALID WPA PASSPHRASE. For all those reading, I suggest that you take the time to email, call, snail-mail your complaints with as much vigour and frustration and forward it to HP headoffice. This problem is not only affecting those among the forrum as there is a great many who haven't posted their thoughts here.
We payed for a printer that is expected to print (wirelessly). If HP continues to ignore this problem without providing a working solution, we the customers may very well choose another company who can actually provide the services we require.

And don't forget the original issue in this thread either - my printer is an "HP 6700 Premium Wireless" and has the same issue - the only way this will work is to use WPA-PSK on the router. This is NOT a secure encryption protocol now that there is off the shelf software that can be used to crack it in seconds, most other devices will warn that you are using an unsecure network if you attempt to connect using this.
If HP has any concern at all about users security, they would release a firmware update to allow this work using up to date encryption, e.g. WPA2.

Hi @velvis,
Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for the First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand you are having trouble connecting your printer to the network. There is an option on the printer to automatically get the password and to connect itself to the network while on the printer software installation process.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you recently made any changes before the issue started?
What is the Operating System installed on the PC? Windows or Mac OS
Have you tried to perform any troubleshooting steps before posting this on HP Forums?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
- First, let’s uninstall the printer software. Unplug the USB cable is connected. Go to control panel – Programs and features – select HP LaserJet 200 basic device software and select “Uninstall”. Restart the computer once done.
- Go to 123.hp.com type your model number, click Begin, and then click “Download”. The full feature software installation will begin.
- On the Connection Options window, select “Wireless - Make a wireless connection to the printer”, and then click “Next”.
- The installation checks your network configuration and will give you either the “HP Wireless Connect” option or “Wireless setup Using a USB Connection”.
- HP Wireless connect will automatically find the wireless password from your computer and will connect the printer to the same network. Wireless setup of USB connection will require you to connect USB cable for a short while to convert your printer to wireless.
- Once the printer is connected continue with the installation setup. You can check http://hp.care/2pD7WN8 for more details.
Alternatively, you can check http://hp.care/2pCXaWQ to check your wireless password.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.

I have recently switched from TWC to Spectrum. (Gag.) This is when the problem with the passphrase began. When I called them they said that I needed to contact HP. Printers are not their problem.
I have no idea how one would find a pass phrase. So for now, I have no printer access.
Thanks,
cduncan
