I have a Photosmart 6510 all in one wireless printer. It worked fine until this spring. At that time I added a Photosmart 6520 printer. Since then, when I turn off my computer(laptop) and turn it back on, the 6510 printer no longer responds to the computers command to print. I have to go in and uninstall the driver, then reinstall it to get it all working again. When I did this the first time I accidentally uninstalled the software for the 6520 printer also so I don't think that is the cause of the problem. The only software for printers on the laptop is for the 6510. I have a Sony Vaio with windows 8.

I have tried turning off the printer before turning off the laptop but that doesn't help either. Any suggestions??

Hello psylintg, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see you are running into print connection issues.  I would like to help.

I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.

I would then suggest making sure all your firewalls are turned off.

Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, I would suggest temporarily connecting the USB cable to see if the connection is solid.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

Thanks Jamieson for your help. Unfortunately your solution didn't solve the problem. I'll keep researching but I'm thinking I have a bug....

I don't receive any error messages.  If the software is installed and the printer is working, after the computer shuts down, for instance to do a restart for updates, then when I go to print something it all appears as if it is going to print. The little icon appears in the lower right corner, it asks which printer to use, which pages to print, how many copies, etc. Then nothing happens. After a few seconds the icon disappears and I'm back to square one. I have tried turning off the printer before shutting down the computer-doesn't help.

IT WORKED! The printer spool restart worked. Thank you so much for sticking with me and finding a solution. If this happens again I will go in a do this fix first. Thank you Jamieson.
