HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One Printer - E710a

0x610000f6

I have tried to reset printer by unplugging for 60 seconds, and then powering back on. Makes a noise when it tries to print.

Hi @Arose3687, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The 0x610000f6 error on the HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One (E710a) printer is typically related to a carriage jam, paper jam, or mechanical failure.

Try These Steps to Fix the Issue:

1. Power Reset (Full)

Since you've already tried a simple reset, try a more thorough reset:

  1. Unplug the printer while it is turned on.
  2. Disconnect any USB/Ethernet cables (if connected).
  3. Wait 2–5 minutes.
  4. Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds (if applicable).
  5. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

2. Check for Paper or Carriage Jams

  1. Open the ink cartridge access door and inspect the carriage area for any jammed paper or obstructions.
  2. Move the carriage manually to see if it moves freely.
  3. Remove any loose or stuck paper.
  4. Close the cover and try printing again.

3. Check Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the printer cover.
  2. Remove all ink cartridges.
  3. Inspect the cartridge area for debris or ink buildup.
  4. Reinstall the cartridges one by one.
  5. Close the cover and restart the printer.

4. Clean the Carriage Rod

  • The carriage rod (metal bar the ink cartridges slide on) may need lubrication if it's causing resistance.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol and gently clean the rod.
  • Move the carriage manually to check if it slides smoothly.

5. Perform a Semi-Full Reset

If the issue persists, try a semi-full reset to restore factory settings:

  1. Unplug the printer.
  2. Press & hold # and 3 on the keypad.
  3. While holding the buttons, plug in the power cable.
  4. Release the buttons when the printer turns on.
  5. If the issue is not resolved, repeat with # and 6.

6. Firmware Update

If the printer turns on without error, check for firmware updates:

  • Go to HP Support.
  • Enter your printer model and download the latest firmware.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
