HP Smart Tank 790 All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 11

Good afternoon!

I apologize in advance for the question, perhaps this is not discussed here ...

The bottom line is this:
For a long time I dreamed of buying an HP SmartTank MFP ... Ever since the 5xx series ... Time passed, and now my wife and I decided to buy anyway in order to print, first of all, photos of the baby ... Only expensive models, older ones, were available . We ordered an HP Smart Tank 790 All-In-One for a lot of money... But, in the end, we bought it.

Problems arose as soon as I got home.

Started printing photos...
A4 - perfect
13x18 - perfect
10x15 - disgusting...

No matter how many sheets of photo paper are in the tray. And regardless of the manufacturer (now there are 4 packs of paper on hand), for some reason it prints in such a way that there is an indent of about a centimeter and a half at the "bottom" of the photo. Each photo is different.
Regular photo paper from cheap DEXP 230g/m2 to super glossy Lomond Premium 260g/m2.

It seems that there is a problem with the capture of paper, and he starts printing before the paper "comes". This is indirectly confirmed by the fact that on the reverse side there are stripes from the rollers, such as ink got there.

The printer has been reset to factory settings. Did not help.

Even an update came to the printer, it was installed. It didn't help either.

However, the printer's jokes do not end there. If you take A4 photo paper, cut off a card from it about 10 by 15 in size. Put in a tray. Start printing - it will print well!

I can't take it to a service center yet.

Friends, do you have any thoughts on the topic? Is there any way to get the printer to print photos normally?

Thanks in advance!

We have exactly the same problem. I don't think it's a paper issue but it's a bug in the firmware. The printer can print the same paper but in A4 format perfectly fine.
