When duplex printing using the HP Smart app all is fine but if you print from Adobe Acrobat or Word, when printing 2-sided, the odd pages print upside down. I have selected duplex printing and bind on long edge.

Hi,

Thank You for contacting HP.

As I see the printer prints upside down from MS Word and PDF while printing 2 sided. I will provide you steps to fix the issue.

Go to Control Panel > Printers

Look for the Printer Icon.

Right click the Icon and select Printing Preferences.

Under Printing Shortcuts, select "General Everyday Printing"

Ensure 2 sided option is selected.

Select the correct paper type.

Select the "Pages Per sheet" as 1.

Go to the Layout Tab.

Look for "Long Edge Flip" and "Short Edge Flip"

Select "Long Edge Flip" there.

Also select "Pages per sheet" as 1.

Then Click Ok.

Then Open the Word or PDF file you want to print.

Click on File > Print

Ensure your printer is selected.

Select 2 sided.

Select "Long Edge Flip"

Select the Orientation as "Portrait".

IF you want the Orientation as "Landscape" then select the flip type as "Short edge Flip".

If collated and non collated drop down is there then select collated.

Now try to print and check the results.

Thanks for the help but I do not have the options you listed in my setup. There is no

"General Everyday Printing" tab. However there are similar settings and they are all set yo 2 sided, bind along long side etc.

Hi,

Thank you for replying to the post.

Do you have the option of Orientation. Please check.

Change the Orientation, if it is Portrait then select it as Portrait.

And Vice Versa.

Also try the flip on short edge with different Orientations like Portrait and Orientation and then check the printing.

Also let us know which application you are using to print.

Hi,

It is in portrait and I selected portrait. I have tried along both long and short edges and I get the same problem. I have printed from Word and Acrobat and get the same problem. I don't get this problem if I use the HP app but the HP app can't print word docs.

This looks like a driver issue,

Let us try to add a different driver and check the results of printing from that.

For adding the printer on USB

1) Go to Control Panel > Printers.

2) Click on Add a Printer.

3) Click on "The printer that I want isn't listed".

4) Choose the option "add a local printer or network [printer with manual settings" > next

6) Choose HP from the Manufacturers list. then choose the HP envy 7100 series PCL3. or Universal Print Driver.

7)Click next> choose "replace the existing drivers"> next

😎 keep clicking next and finish.

9) Try printing and check.

For Network printer add the printer with the below steps.

1) Go to Control Panel > Printers.

2) Click on Add a Printer.

3) Click on "The printer that I want isn't listed".

4) Choose the option "add a printer using TCP/IP address" > next.
