The time which was formerly set via the network apparently for I never remember setting the time on either one. Today I noticed for the first time that both printer times are off as follows:
HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One - Time is 7:43pm locally the printer shows 7:12pm (thirty-one minutes slow).
HP Photosmart Premium Fax Series C309a - Time is 7:43pm locally the printer shows 7:35pm (8 minutes slow).
Both of these printers formerly seemed to auto-sync the time on the display panel. Is it possible that my ISP has started blocking the NTP port or something?
Hmm, no I just connected to 0.pool.ntp.org via ntpdate on my linux computer and it was not blocked. So it is something about these printers has gone wonky.

Hi @tcagle53,
Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums with your printer time inquiry.
I understand that you have 2 printers, an HP Photosmart 3310 and an HP Photosmart Premium Fax, and each printer is showing the incorrect. I would like to help.
The printer's usually have the user set the Time and Date when the printer is being setup. Sometimes things like power outages or unplugging the printer can cause the time to read incorrectly.
You can set the time to the correct time by using the printer's control panels.
To Set the Time on the HP Photosmart 3310:
To set the Time on the HP Photosmart Premium Fax:
1. Press the Setup button.
2. Press the down arrow button to highlight Preferences, and then press OK.
3. Press the down arrow button to highlight Date & Time, and then press OK.
I was not aware of the printers automatically syncing to the computer's time, but sometimes the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) will have a 'Sync to time on PC' setting that can be selected if the printer is being used on a network.
Once the EWS is loaded there should be a Settings tab somewhere near the top of window. If Settings is clicked Date & Time should be able to be selected on the left side. If the option to sync the printer with the computer's time is available there usually a check box to check before clicking Apply. Not all printer's have this option.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

I was unable to find a sync option in the embedded web server pages of either printer. I suppose I was incorrect in my statement concerning network syncing of time. One last question. Do these printers contain a small battery to operate the time clock in power off mode and if so is it user serviceable for replacement?

Hi @tcagle53,
There is no battery in these printers. The printers need to remain plugged into a wall jack in order to retain the date and time. Date and time, and other settings, are stored in the little bit of flash memory the printer has available.
If the printer gets unplugged for more than a few minutes it may not show the correct date and time when it is plugged in and turned back on.
There are also no replaceable or serviceable parts that would help with this feature's functionality. Any updates to improve functionality for this feature would be released in firmware updates.
