Used to run my printer on WiFi, no longer have it so tried connecting via Direct print & with a USB cable. USB will not work no matter how I try, Direct gets as far as sending the document then I get a 'blocked' error message. 3 days of trying & I'm about to bin this printer with 2 half full cartridges & 70 pages I need to print!!!

Hi @Aliclare,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the frustration you're facing with your HP DeskJet 2630 printer. Before considering drastic measures like getting rid of the printer, let's try a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve the issue. Here are some steps you can take.
USB Connection:
- Ensure that you are using a compatible and functional USB cable. Try using a different USB cable to rule out any issues with the cable itself.
- Connect the USB cable directly to a USB port on your computer, avoiding the use of USB hubs.
- Restart both your computer and the printer.
Direct Print:
- Make sure that your printer is in "Direct Print" mode. On some printers, this might be called "Wireless Direct" or a similar term.
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. You can usually find this information on the official HP website.
WiFi Connection:
- If WiFi was working fine before, it might be worth trying to troubleshoot the WiFi connection issue. Reconnect your printer to the WiFi network and ensure both the computer and the printer are on the same network.
Drivers and Software:
- Make sure you have the latest drivers and software installed for your printer. Visit the official HP website to download and install the latest drivers compatible with your operating system.
Firewall and Antivirus:
- Sometimes, security software or firewalls can block communication between the computer and the printer. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software and try printing again.
Reset Printer:
- Perform a factory reset on your printer. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
