Hi @ArielleT1704,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer shows 3 orange lights and won’t power on, it’s likely indicating a critical hardware or power-related error. Let’s walk through the steps to troubleshoot this.
Printer Shows 3 Orange Lights and Won’t Power On
Step 1: Power Reset
- Unplug the printer from the wall outlet and any surge protector.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (not a power strip).
- Press the Power button once (don’t hold it down).
⚠️ Holding the power button too long may cause the printer to turn on and immediately shut off.
Step 2: Check for Power Supply Issues
- If your printer uses an external power adapter, check the LED on the adapter:
- If no light, the adapter may be faulty.
- Try using a compatible power cord from another HP printer if available.
- If the printer still doesn’t power on, you may need to replace the power module:
Step 3: Interpret the Blinking Lights
If the printer powers on but shows 3 orange lights, it may indicate:
- Paper jam
- Ink cartridge error
- Scanner or printhead issue
For Smart Tank and DeskJet models, blinking orange lights often mean:
- Attention light: General error
- Resume light: Paper or job interruption
- Cancel light: Job stopped or failed

I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
