My 3700 DeskJet printer just stopped printing in black/white. No early warning signals, it just stopped printing black ink.  No error light or error code.  Cartridges is half full, and also new cartridge does not work anymore.  Paper handling and printer sounds are as normal, just nothing being printed on paper.  I cleaned all contact points according to instructions, reset the printer etc., but nothing helps. Does anyone has a tip what I could try, could do? Warranty has expired, and it's not worth anymore to bring it in for (costly) repair.

If you have already performed the steps from the document Color or Black Ink Not Printing and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

 

Since the device is out of warranty, and we've concluded that this is a hardware malfunction, I may have a few pointers/suggestions to help you out, however, since this suggestions are limited to you and your printer alone, I'd like to send out a private message with those details.
