For my HP LaserJet MFP M140we Printer, I am having an issue with printing (no printing) for past 2 months. Opening a case didn't help, neither did calling the helpline, where after waiting for 20 minutes it gets transferred to another department and a 30 minutes wait would not result in a resolution (no one answering the call).
The issue - Attention light has 4 blinks per 3 seconds, there is an issue with your HP account and/or printer connection.
Printer status on the app is Green and "Ready"
Printer status on my account is "Disconnected from Internet" - however the internet is working fine, constant blue light on the printer. Have tried to reconnect. Neither scanning from the printer nor printing from any device is currently working. Seems like an issue with the instantInk account probably? Any advise would be helpful. Thank you!

Hi @redsegdde,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The blinking lights on your HP LaserJet MFP M140we printer indicate an error condition. In this case, the 4 blinks per 3 seconds pattern typically suggests a connectivity issue related to your HP account or printer connection. To resolve this issue, you can follow these steps.
- Check Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer or network. Make sure all cables are securely plugged in and there are no loose connections.
- Restart Printer: Power off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then power it back on. This can sometimes resolve temporary communication glitches.
- Check Network Connection: If your printer is connected to a network, make sure it has a stable network connection. You can try connecting to a different network or resetting your router if needed.
- Update Firmware: Sometimes, firmware updates can help resolve connectivity issues. Visit the official HP support website, enter your printer model, and check if there are any available firmware updates.
- Check HP Account: If your printer is connected to your HP account, ensure that your account credentials are correct. Log in to your HP account on the official HP website to verify.
- Reconfigure Wireless Settings: If you're using wireless connection, try reconfiguring the wireless settings on your printer. You might need to enter the wireless network password again.
- Run HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP provides a utility called "HP Print and Scan Doctor" that can help diagnose and fix printer-related issues. Download and run this utility from the official HP support website.
- Check for Software Conflicts: Sometimes, software conflicts can interfere with your printer's communication. Temporarily disable any firewall or security software and check if the printer connects.
- Reset Printer: If none of the above steps work, you can try performing a factory reset on your printer. Refer to the printer's manual or the HP support website for instructions on how to do this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to help me out. Honestly, it has been a totally frustrating experience so far. I have opened a ticket with HP, called many times (no one answers) and when you get an answer you are transferred to another department where you again need to wait. A 30 min wait leads to no reply. I have gone through each step you have mentioned and my results are mentioned below.
- Check Connection: Done. Didn't work.
- Restart Printer: Done. Didn't work. Also disconnected completely from back and still.
- Check Network Connection: Done. Didn't work. High speed fiber optic connection.
- Update Firmware: its new and updated.
- Check HP Account: yup, Done. Didn't work.
- Reconfigure Wireless Settings: Done. Didn't work.
- Run HP Print and Scan Doctor: Done. Didn't work..
- Check for Software Conflicts: Done. Didn't work. I didn't make any changes actually so this shouldn't be the case.
- Reset Printer: This worked today and I can print back, finally.
However it went back to the same error. After this I again performed a reset and it is working for now.
