Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello everyone, I need urgent help, the HPdeskjet4100 printer does not print. It worked without a problem until a few days ago.. now it says hat there is no paper, even though there is, and does not pull pages, just makes a sound and says at the end: "the printing was completed" when nothing comes out. I have already turned it off and on without success. There are signs on the display that I don't recognize, There is a blue light near the wireless network . I should note that a printer test page two hours before this happened came out fine.   I am printing from a laptop, with operating system windows 10. never had a problem with the printing. I would appreciate a practical  help - not advice on starting to disassemble the printer - I don't have the knowledge or the ability to do this. Thanks in advance to the helpers.

Hi @rr666,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If your HP DeskJet 4100 printer is making sounds as if it is printing but nothing is being printed on the paper, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that both the black and color ink cartridges have sufficient ink.
  • Replace any low or empty cartridges.

Clean Printhead:

  • Use the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app to clean the printhead.
  • Go to Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead and follow the on-screen instructions.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions.
  • Remove any jammed paper carefully to avoid damaging the printer.

Align the Printer:

  • Align the print cartridges to ensure the best print quality.
  • This option can usually be found in the printer’s settings menu or via the HP Smart app.

Print a Test Page:

  • Print a test page to check if the printer is able to print.
  • If the test page prints correctly, the issue may be with the document or file you are trying to print.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your HP DeskJet 4100.
  • Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check Print Settings:

  • Ensure that the print settings in your computer are correctly configured.
  • Make sure you are printing to the correct printer and that the paper size and type settings match the paper in the tray.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. Firmware updates can resolve many printing issues.
  • Check for updates via the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app.

Check for Network Issues:

  • If the printer is connected via Wi-Fi, ensure that it is properly connected to your network.
  • Restart your router and reconnect the printer to the network.

If the printer still does not print after trying these steps, there may be a hardware issue. In such cases, contact HP phone support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

.Dear Elohi thank you very much for the detailed answer and the time you took to respond,  I appreciate it. it is evident that you are indeed an agent of HP, however I don't know about you, but I am a simple person, not a technician and for the average person all the suggestions you gave and the instructions are not applicable..                                                                      A  test page  was printed without a problem but the rest of the prints didn't, and the *fiels* are not damaged, and boths cartidges are full, and there was no page or remnant of a pages Stuck somewhere.                                                                             it seems  that HP company think that her customers are working FOR her and instruct them to disassemble the printer, as if they are as skilled as a technician... well, it makes sense that a company that does not know how to provide service would act this way.  Do you know what was my solution ? I threw away the 4100 printer ! and on Friday I purchased a new printer - of course NOT hp company,

Friends - I do not recommend purchasing HP printers because as soon as you need service - it is a  living nightmare,  the company does not have a human customer service or anyone to talk to. And if, god forbid, you want to contact their support on the Internet - you should spend an hour  to find the serial number of the printe,r because otherwise you won't be able to contact them, in summary: A company that does everything so that her customers will not bother her. Again, many thanks for your efforts.
