Hi @Barberspole,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP DeskJet Plus 4122 All-in-One printer is indicating an error through the flashing symbols, including the eye button and Wi-Fi button. Here's how you can troubleshoot this issue.

Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams, particularly in the paper feed or output tray. Remove any jammed paper if found.

Check Ink Cartridges

  • Ensure the ink cartridges are properly installed and that they are not empty or incorrectly placed. Remove and reinsert the cartridges if necessary.

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power outlet. Wait for about 60 seconds and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Wi-Fi Connection

  • If the Wi-Fi button is flashing, the printer may be having trouble connecting to the network. Ensure that the printer is in range of your router and that your Wi-Fi is functioning properly.
  • You may need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. To do so, go to the printer’s control panel, find the Wi-Fi settings, and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect.

Clear Printer Queue

  • If there are stuck print jobs, clear the print queue from your computer or mobile device to reset the printing process.

Perform a Reset

  • If the error persists, you can try performing a hard reset on the printer:
    1. Turn off the printer.
    2. Unplug it from the power source.
    3. Hold down the Cancel button while plugging the printer back in.
    4. Release the button after 10-20 seconds to reset the printer.

Check for Firmware Update

  • Ensure that the printer firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the printer's web interface.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
