Hi @haydee17,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it is when your printer suddenly stops working, especially right after replacing ink and getting that one successful print. You're not alone in this, and I’m here to help you get it back up and running.

What the Flashing Lights Mean

When all the lights on your HP DeskJet 4200e All-in-One Printer are flashing, it typically indicates a critical error often related to ink cartridge recognition, a paper jam, or a firmware glitch.

Try This Hard Reset Procedure

Here’s a step-by-step guide to perform a hard reset:

  1. Turn off the printer using the power button.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for 60 seconds to allow the internal memory to clear.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet first, then to the printer.
  5. Turn on the printer and check if the lights stop flashing.

If the issue persists, try removing and reseating the ink cartridges:

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove both cartridges.
  • Clean the copper contacts gently with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert them firmly and close the door.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
