HP Envy 5660
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

i have two boxes of HP Everyday Photo Paper 4x6 or 102 x 152 mm that is about 1/8" to long to fit the photo paper tray in my Envy 5660 printer.  Is there a way to make this work without having to cut each page?  Why would HP sell photo paper that doesn't fit their printer?

Yes, I am aware that I can print 5x7 or 4x6 in the letter tray, but since this printer has a 4x6 tray I as trying to use it. Unfortunately the tray only accepts paper whose length is 152mm or 6" I cannot use an HP product that says it is for this purpose.

PROBLEM SOLVED: I will cut this to fit and buy a different brand.

Hi @B-Baggins,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums!

I see that you're unable to print 4 x 6 paper on your HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer. I will certainly do my best to help you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.

I'm unsure why you need to cut each page. It sounds like you're loading the paper into the photo tray wrong, you should not need to cut it to fit.

Please explain in more detail what is wrong and what you're trying to achieve.

Load media
Select a paper size to continue.
To load small-size paper
1. Pull out the photo tray.
If you do not see the photo tray, remove the output tray from the printer.
2. Load paper.

● Insert a stack of photo paper into the photo tray print side down. Loaded into the printer short end first (portrait).
● Slide the photo paper forward until it stops.
3. Push the photo tray back in.
4. Change or retain the paper settings on the printer display

Note: Not all HP Paper are meant to be used in all HP Printers as the features on each device vary from one to another.

That being said, your printer does support 4 x 6 paper.

Make sure that you're selecting the correct paper type when printing.

I need to cut the paper because the box says the paper is 102mm X 152 mm but if you can see in the picture it is actually 165mm long. Therefore it does not fit the photo tray.  Unfortunately I have two boxes of this HP paper. IMG_5329.JPG

Hi @B-Baggins,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I'm still a little confused as to why you need to cut the paper.

Are you loading the 4 x 6 paper into the photo tray correctly?

Load the paper in portrait (short end first) not landscape, as seen in the image below.

Your printer will print on legal sized paper, so there is no need to cut the paper.

For example; Load legal paper

1. Pull out the paper tray, slide the paper-width guides outward, and then remove any previously loaded media.

2. Unlock and open the front side of the paper tray.

3. Load paper.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion. Smiley Happy

Did you find a paper that fits? I'm in the same situation.

NOT SOLVED.  Here's the thing - 6x4 inches is no the same as 10x15cm.  The inches are slightly bigger.  The so-called 6x4 tray in the Envy is 100mmx150mm but the paper, any 6x4 paper is 102mm x152mm.  Stupid stupid design.  I'd take the printer back if iI could find the receipt,  I'll not buy HP again
