Hi KULOOMBA
Check Print Queue
- Open the print queue to see if there are any print jobs stuck or pending.
- Go to the Control Panel on Windows:
- Navigate to "Devices and Printers".
- Right-click on your HP LaserJet 5100 and select "See what's printing".
- Cancel any pending jobs to see if that clears the "Busy" status.
- Go to the Control Panel on Windows:
Restart Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Wait a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on.
- This can reset the printer and clear any errors.
Verify Connections
- Ensure all cables connected to the printer are secure.
- If using a USB connection, verify that the connection between the printer and computer is solid.
- For network connections, ensure the printer is correctly connected to the network.
Update Drivers
- Make sure your printer drivers are up-to-date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website:
- Go to HP Support.
- Search for your printer model (HP LaserJet 5100) and download the latest drivers.
Manual and Printer Settings
- Consult the printer’s user manual for specific information about the "Busy" message and troubleshooting steps.
- Ensure the printer is not undergoing any automatic maintenance or cleaning processes.
Additional Steps
- Check if the printer is set to offline mode accidentally; you can change this setting from the print queue window.
- Ensure no network issues: If the printer is on a network, make sure there are no network problems that might be causing the printer to show as busy.
I hope the above is helpful
